F.A.Q.

What is counselling/how can it help me?

Counselling is a great way of empowering you and helps to build self-esteem, confidence and resilience.

It is a conducted in a safe psychological place with a trained therapist where you can share your true feelings and thoughts without fear of being judged.

I will listen, you will be heard, help is available to deal with emotional and other issues that are proving difficult to deal with alone.

Sometimes it is much easier to talk to a stranger in a professional setting. They are neutral, not a friend nor family.

This can make it easier to gain more self awareness which in turn can relieve the stress you are under.

How many sessions will I have?

I offer long and short term therapy. The number of session you will require will be as individual as you are.

A lot of people start with six sessions, coming for one session per week. There is no pressure.

You will know when the time comes if you want to continue or not.

We will review your progress and goals together on a regular basis. The final decision to end will be yours.

Some clients check in again regularly and view coming to the sessions as self care. The therapeutic relationship is a very important part of therapy.

Once established, it can prove to be a fantastic foundation on which to monitor your mental health and wellbeing.

What happens when I contact you?

We will discuss what your needs are, what you would like to gain from therapy.

I will outline what I do, and if we both agree we are a match, we can book the first session and discuss your needs further.

The First session

I know that coming to therapy can be a scary experience so at the first session.

I will put you at ease so that you are comfortable in the setting.

I will do a brief assessment if it has not been done prior to the meeting or I will quickly go over any paperwork already completed via email.

Confidentiality plays a big part of our agreement and I will ensure that it is covered again to reassure you that this is your safe place.
